Coxhill Manor manager wins top award for leadership

Coxhill Manor home manager Alan Horler has won an award for Excellence in Leadership and Management at the Caring Homes Group Recognition Awards.

With more than 5,500 employees across the group Alan beat off stiff competition to be recognised as showing excellent skills in leading and managing his home.

The awards were presented at a glittering ceremony hosted at the Grove Hotel in Watford and presented by musician and singer Ronan Keating.

Coxhill Manor care home in Woking provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 58 residents. The peaceful and secluded location on the outskirts of Chobham, near Woking in Surrey, makes the home a great place to live.

Alan joined Caring Homes in 2012, after having spent a number of years managing respite care services and getting new care homes for people with learning disabilities up and running smoothly. In recent years, he has managed care homes for elderly residents in Woking and has been a registered manager for 20 years.

Following a review of over 3,000 nominations received from colleagues and people supported for the awards, Alan was shortlisted for the award with nominations stating that he manages his team well, understands his colleagues and is supportive, sensitive and accessible at all times.

The judges shared the views of one nomination which stated; “Alan’s commitment to person-centred care can be seen in the way he motivates his team, creating opportunities and experiences for them, and for our residents.”

Attended by over 340 guests the evening was a great occasion, with colleagues and business partners coming together to celebrate the very best care and support provided by outstanding people.

Paul Jeffery, CEO, Caring Homes Group stated; “The Recognition Awards 2017, provided an opportunity to showcase talent, dedication and commitment, as well as demonstrate the crucial role our professionals play in caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

“It’s very important that we celebrate success, from the finalists nominated, to the thousands of our colleagues making a significant contribution to caring for and supporting people all over the UK.”

The event was generously sponsored by Caring Homes Group’s business partners, who together made the event possible.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
