Coxhill Manor Deck the Halls Competition

Decorating Coxhill Manor in Chobham, Surrey for Christmas is a real tradition for everyone but events took on a new twist this year, as Alan our Home Manager decided to spice things up by making it a competition.

He assigned six teams to decorate six different areas of the home, namely the Conservatory, the Garden Wing dining area, the Manor dining area, the reception, the Clocktower lounge area on the first floor and the Gables lounge area on the second floor.

And what a fab idea it was. We all pulled together in our teams, and there was a definite ‘festive competitive spirit’ in the air!  Residents got involved too and enjoyed the spirit of the competition. Everyone really did go the extra mile and had great fun along the way.  The Christmas tree in the conservatory even had homemade tree decorations which featured residents smiling faces.  The angel on top of the tree did look suspiciously like Alan though…?!

The whole home looked amazing and reflected the huge efforts of all involved and we received so many compliments from residents, guests and friends of Coxhill Manor.

A team of judges, including Rob our chef, residents Richard Hayley, Ken Dimmick and Lady Lacey, and relative Sue Gray, had the unenviable task of deciding which area was the best decorated.

Cue drum roll. The results were…

A very well deserved first place for Gables (see picture of the winning team), second place for the reception area and third place for the conservatory.

It was such great fun and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The standard was so high and some were even discussing how they could improve on their efforts with some new ideas. Bring on next year…!!!
