We had lots of fun decking our halls and adding lots of Christmas decorations throughout Coxhill Manor
Nursing Home in Woking this year.As is tradition here, Home Manager Alan assigned different teams to decorate six different areas of the home, namely the Reception area, the Conservatory, the Garden Wing dining area, the Manor dining area, the Clock Tower lounge area on the first floor, and the Gables lounge area on the second floor. There was a definite festive competitive spirit in the air with each area looking fabulous and seeming to improve daily as everyone added their bit. Our residents joined in and we had a lot of home-made decorations too, which our residents had fun making as their creativity was unleashed. As with all competitions, there could only be one winner… as decided by Chef Rob and his team of judges. (No bribes were accepted by Rob – at least that’s what he said…)And the winning area was……… the Manor Dining Room! Well done to our nurses and residents who did a really excellent job. It looked stunning with a curtain of twinkling fairy lights and a light display around the mirror to complement the beautiful Christmas tree. Well-deserved winners we all agreed. The rest of the teams are undeterred and are already saying, bring on next year…!On the Friday before Christmas we had a fun afternoon in the conservatory making the table decorations in readiness for Christmas Day. Activity Coordinator Sarah Lilburn enlisted the help of her mum Karen, daughter Lauren and friends Sheila and Harriet, and organised the afternoon ensuring there was oasis, greenery, tinsel, pine cones, candles a plenty. We had Christmas music on the big screen to create the perfect atmosphere. Sarah and her ‘Christmas Helpers’ made sure that each and every resident was included and provided appropriate levels of support to all in making the table decorations. Everyone had a sense of inclusion, belonging and of course achievement. The end results were stunning.Special thanks to Sarah’s helpers who gave their time to help and organise. It was greatly appreciated by us all and it’s always nice for our residents to meet new people and make new friends too.Of course, any talk of Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a mention of Santa himself.
Yes… he did indeed make it to Coxhill Manor on Christmas Day morning, delivering a gift to each resident in person. Some were lucky enough to get a ‘selfie’ with the man himself…Any resemblance to volunteer Bryan is purely a coincidence…At Coxhill Manor care home in Woking
