Coppice Lea receive Good CQC in all areas

Coppice Lea Care Home in Merstham has been rated as providing a ‘good’ care service in all areas, according to its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The care home, provides residential and nursing care for up to 51 residents; it was given a ‘good’ overall rating by inspectors, for providing a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care service.

The CQC report praised Coppice Lea in its overall summary, and noted: ‘People told us they were happy living here. One person said, “‘I have no complaints whatsoever. If I have a worry then they listen to me.” Staff were happy in their work and proud of the job they do.’

The report continued: ‘People benefited from living in a home with good leadership and a stable staff team, so they knew the people who looked after them. Staff were very focused on ensuring that people received person centered care. Residents felt safe because they were well cared for by kind staff.’

To find out about people’s experience of living at the home inspectors spoke with 10 residents and three relatives, sitting and engaging with them. They also observed how staff cared for people and worked together as a team, and spoke with 11 staff which included the registered manager and a visiting health care professional.

Meera Govindapillai, Home Manager at Coppice Lea, says: “We strive to give our residents the care and lifestyle they wish to have and involve them in every aspect of their care. We are all extremely happy at the praise we received from inspectors in the report following their visit to Coppice Lea in July this year. All of our team members, residents and families work well together to support each other and it is very pleasing to see that our service has been rated as good by the CQC.”
