Coppice Lea getting out in the local community

Coppice Lea care home residents and staff have made some great bonds and spent some rewarding time with the local school in Merstham. The school kindly invited us to join them for their recent art projects.

Together we have been doing ink printing with leaves, producing some very abstract designs. The school children have also visited us at the home, working with the residents to produce clay tiles in which leaf designs were pressed into them. Once the tiles were dry we enjoyed painting them together.

The children were amazing with our residents, making tea, coffee and home made cakes on all our visits. Our residents blossomed in the company of the children, laughing, chatting and thoroughly enjoying the hands on art experience. The 6 weeks that we have all spent together has been such a success for both the residents and the school children that the school are looking to extend the project this coming September and are also planning to attend our summer BBQ. This project has exceeded all our expectations, the children and residents have made some lovely friendships and lasting memories.

At Coppice Lea care home in Merstham, Surrey we provide the highest standard of residential and nursing care. Set in five acres of beautiful landscaped gardens and wooded grounds, our elegant Victorian house has been converted to provide care for up to 51 residents.
