Coppice Lea and Cranmer enjoy a tea party

Residents at Coppice Lea nursing home in Merstham enjoyed an old fashioned tea party with the company of their sister home Cranmer Court in Warlingham.

Karen the activities coordinator at Cranmer Court brought five residents to visit their friends at Coppice Lea, who spent an hour and a half chatting happily to each other whilst enjoying a huge array of cakes, specially baked by the Coppice Lea chefs.

It is important for the residents at both homes to keep up relationships with others outside of their own home. It helps build excitement, the waiting to go to another home and see others they don’t get to see every day, building the anticipation to continue conversations they had at their last visit. As we have a ready built network with our sister homes we like to make the most of this, bring new environments to the residents.

Activities like this prevent loneliness and also positively impact on general health and well-being of the residents as they feel part of something bigger. Social occasions like this can also make eating a pleasurable experience which can help with those that have a smaller appetite want to try food.

Coppice Lea provides specialist residential and nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 51 elderly people.
