Claydon House Celebrate CQC Success

The staff and residents of Claydon House care home in Lewes were celebrating this week as they received top marks in their latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Following a review of the inspection process in recent years, five areas of the business are now inspected which assess how well the service is treating people with respect, quality of care provision, safeguarding and safety, staffing and management of the service.

The grand Victorian home, part of the family-owned Caring Homes Group, has demonstrated the highest possible levels of care delivery having met or exceeded the required standards in all of the above areas.

As part of the process, CQC inspectors spoke to residents, relatives and members of staff. The home demonstrated full compliance in all areas with special mention made of the comments made to inspectors by residents of the Lewes home, with one saying ‘I’m very happy, the care is very good indeed. They are very kind’ and another resident adding ‘It’s perfect, I’ve got everything one could want.’

Claydon House Manager, Karen Grainger told us:

‘We are delighted that the hard work done each and every day by our team has been recognised through this positive report. We have a tightly knit staff team here and we put the Service Users at the heart of everything we do.

First and foremost, Claydon House is our residents’ home. It is a pleasure to provide a service for so many wonderful people, but it is always nice to hear that you’re getting things right!’

Located on a quiet crescent at the heart of Lewes, Claydon House provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 47 elderly people. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
