Claydon House and Princes’ Trust working together

Claydon House has set up a link with the Princes’ Trust in Lewes and has recently been working closely with the young people involved on their Team Challenge. The students attended a Dementia Friends session to gain more information about Dementia and returned to College to prepare a day of activities for our residents.

On 13th July, the Trust Team arrived full of nerves, excitement and energy and spent the day working together with our residents. The students interviewed the residents and found that they had much in common with them. We participated in quizzes, sing-a-longs, and made memory postcards. Everyone enjoyed the day as you can see from these great photos.

At their presentation evening which Sue Brown, our Activities Coordinator attended, many of the young people referred to the visit as being one of the highlights of their 12 week Princes’ Trust experience.

“I visited a wonderful care home for people with dementia.”

“I sang a man’s favourite song, he usually just sits in his chair. After we sang he carried on singing for three hours. I got a real buzz from knowing that for one afternoon I had made a difference.”
