Clay Workshop at Mill House

Our residents at Mill House care home in Chipping Campden get very creative during every art session we run. This time Dominika the Activity Coordinator started a long term project of making a tree of clay for our Autumn display.

Eight of our residents took part in the session which took place in the afternoon on Monday 12th of September in the Activity Room

We were joined by our residents, Maureen, Winn, Phoebe, Albert, Mary, Andrew, Hugh and Anthea who came in after their lunch.

Maureen used to paint pictures and made clay ornaments in the past, so she was very engaged in the session and was very creative with her own ideas.

This session we made leaves which are going to be a part of this Autumn project.

Winn (lady in blue) made about ten different shaped leaves; she is always creative and likes to keep occupied. Her main hobby is colouring and she has piles of books, but that is a separate story.

Phoebe (lady in white) also enjoyed the session very much but also celebrated her birthday on that day. It was a nice surprise for her when staff brought in her birthday cake and we all sang Happy birthday.

Hugh, Andrew and Albert managed really well with the clay, making a few extra leaves for the project. Albert (checked shirt) is a new resident and seems to enjoy all the activities around Mill House.

The clay is currently air drying and we will continue the project next week. It’s great to have a project that people can keep contributing to and have focus on the end result. This makes it very rewarding.
