Christmas lunch for Marchglen at The Woodsman

The residents from Marchglen in Fishcross, were treated to a Christmas lunch at their local ‘The Woodsman’ this week.

Each unit at Marchglen had an outing arranged to ‘The Woodsman’ for Christmas lunch, it is done in this way to ensure the right amount of support can be given to each resident as well as being able to book a big enough table for everyone as we also invite along families to enjoy the day with their loved ones to make it more special for them. Marchglen do this every year, however, this year we thought it would be a nice idea to try something new so changed the location from ‘The Butterfly Inn’ to ‘The Woodsman’.

In the true Christmas spirit we all enjoyed pulling crackers, reading out our jokes and wearing the paper hats. Everyone commented on how amazing the meals were, hearty traditional food cooked perfectly. The staff at ‘The Woodsman’ were very accommodating for the residents and did an amazing job.

Just because our residents have a learning disability, and may also having nursing needs, this should not stop them from being able to lead an active enjoyable life. We strongly believe in creating links with the local community and frequenting local restaurants is one way that we are able to keep this alive for the residents.

Marchglen provides nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 36 people in four small homes within the grounds. Each home provides different types of care and support including physical disabilities, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in both young adults and elderly.
