Christmas at Bradbury House

Christmas at Bradbury House in Braintree has been full of fun, laughter and friends and family. We’ve made cards, dressed the tree, thrown parties, and stuffed ourselves silly. Most importantly we’ve had a lovely time!

The residents fully enjoy our music visits and especially those from our lovely harpist Linda. We had some classics that everyone could recognize and hum and tap along to. From chariots of fire to a gift of a thistle each number brought our residents back to a memory of a time in their lives. We have the pleasure of having her back again for February!

Animal therapy is a real treat that every resident enjoys. JC Party pets visited us with an array of different animals ranging from skunks to honey bears. The goal of Animal therapy and JC Party pet’s visits are to improve a resident’s social, emotional and cognitive functioning. Research suggests that animal visits can promote feelings of well-being in others and motivate it’s participants to actively participate in an activity. We find here at Bradbury House this is an activity that residents can fully enjoy collectively as a group, sharing the experience together.

Bradbury House provides residential care in a 17th Century converted building for up to 20 elderly people.
