Christmas ‘Memory’ Angel at Mill House

Residents at Mill House Nursing Home in Chipping Campden have been busy making an angel for our local church, St James. Each year, St James hosts a festival and this year the theme was ‘Christmas Angels’.

In previous years, themes have been ‘Christmas Trees’ and ‘Cribs’ and local businesses are encouraged to create a display. So with this theme in mind, our residents along with Paul and Mary, our events coordinators spent several hours creating our Mill House ‘Memory’ Angel.

The angel is made from recycled newspapers and magazines as this shows there is still lots of life and wisdom in the old and each of the newspaper feathers on the wings represents a resident. The angel has no face as it signifies our past residents, all our loved ones and their guardian angels.

We decided to call the angel ‘Memory’ as whilst it was being made the residents discussed memories of their loved ones and friends. It was a lovely activity and not at all sad, in fact it was the opposite. Although some of our residents miss those who are no longer with us, they reminisced and remembered the good times, shared anecdotes and the room was full of discussions regarding fond memories and lots of laughter.

The ‘Christmas Angel’ Festival is open from Wednesday 6th to Saturday 9th December between 11am and 5pm and on Friday 9th between 11am and 7pm.  Visitors to St James have the opportunity to vote for their favourite angels and there will be small prizes for the most popular entries.

We are delighted to announce that we received lots of amazing feedback on our angel and are very proud that she is one of the angels that will be kept on display over the festive season.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
