Champagne Entertainment at Wytham House

Wytham House residents in Farmoor, Oxfordshire were delighted to welcome Champagne Enterprise, Val and Rob, to their home this week.

Organsied by our Activity Coordinators, Liza and Sandy, the duo sang songs of old and performed a selection of easy listening music from early 50’s and 60’s tunes and pre-war sing-a-longs, to name just a few.

There were songs such as Cliff Richard’s ‘Summer Holiday’ and ‘The Young Ones’, Vera Lynn and Al Jolson, and they also sang some popular sing–a-long favourites such as ‘The Lambeth Walk’, ‘A Bicycle Made for Two’, ‘Tie a Yellow Ribbon round the Old Oak Tree’, and ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ from the film High Society. Favourite by far however, and by unanimous decision was ‘You are my Sunshine’ by Morecombe and Wise.

Our residents loved it and merrily sang along, foot tapping and clapping along to the rhythms.

Anne, one of our residents thanked Val and Rob and said:

“How wonderful it was to have a sing song and that she really enjoyed it.”

Pauline another resident commented:

“She liked the fact that Val had dressed up in her sparkly dress.”

We all had a great time and it a was a fun, interactive and sociable event that all our residents really enjoyed. The atmosphere was buzzing and from our residents’ reactions, we may be booking them again.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
