Care Workers treat Manager to Christmas Flight above Denham

Home manager Julie Twidle of Denham Manor, has taken to the skies above Denham, thanks to colleagues who have granted her wish to see the area from above. The surprise Christmas present, from four members of the Denham Manor team is a heartfelt thank you for her positive leadership.

Denham aerodrome is at the bottom of the garden of Denham Manor care home. Seeing the light aircraft taking off, Julie had expressed a desire to see the countryside around from the air. On Wednesday 14th December, her hope was realised when Kerry Potter, Susan Lotz, Dennis Murgett and Lisa Fisher presented her with a voucher.

Kerry says: “I love to give gifts and I love Christmas. We wanted to say a big thank you to Julie for being a great manager and we remembered her saying it would be nice to see Denham from an aeroplane. Life’s too short to not do the things you want to do, so we decided to buy her a ride from the local airfield.”

Julie, who lives in Cambridgeshire but spends the working week in Buckinghamshire, was delighted to receive this unexpected gift and be treated to a bird’s eye view of the beautiful local landscape from a 4-seater light aircraft.

She says: “It was fantastic – we were in the air for 30 minutes and went far and wide, even to Princes Risborough. I even had control of the plane at one point. It was dual control though, so totally safe!

“I have a certificate to say I have taken my first flight from Denham Aerodrome. It is something I will always remember.”
