The idea first came to life when Nikki Kelly, Home Manager, learnt of some members of our local community who were spending Christmas Day on their own. After initial chats with our residents, team and some local contacts to see if they would be interested in coming and joining us, we realised just what this would mean to the people attending and to everyone involved.

It was very important to us that our residents were happy to be part of this, as this is their home. From there, we started to excitedly plan and organise the event here at Mount Pleasant so that we could all spend and enjoy Christmas in the company of others.”

Nikki, commented
“Christmas Day is an occasion when many people spend time with families and friends, when public services are reduced and most local services are closed. This can leave some people living locally spending the day alone and I became motivated by the desire to invite them into our home, to spend this day with us. The idea just grew from there really…”

“After all, Christmas is the perfect excuse to meet up with old friends, make new friends, create a lasting bond and fond memories.”

The ‘Care for Christmas Lunch’ event is planned to start from 10am when our guests will start to arrive and the festivities will begin with refreshments and the opportunity to join in some of our Christmas Day activities.

From midday, each of our guests will enjoy a free traditional home-cooked Christmas meal with all the trimmings. A vegetarian will also be available on request (advance booking is required for both options as places are limited).

That’s not all; we have a festive and fun packed day planned for all our residents, relatives, team and guests including traditional activities such as as watching the Queen’s Speech and playing charades. At Mount Pleasant, we focus on the feeling of family and friends and being together at Christmas and of course, we love opening presents too!

Later on in the afternoon, we will be serving a Christmas buffet for everyone. We’re sure there will be a turkey and stuffing sandwich or two!

We can’t wait and we are really looking forward to this event and welcoming new and familiar faces as welcome guests to our home.

We love being part of and connecting with our local community. Running this event enables us to continue fostering and establishing great relationships and supporting our local community in a meaningful way whilst embodying the true spirit of Christmas. Spending the day with those who are near and dear to us, as well giving to those beyond our home and bringing joy and happiness to all.

If you would like to attend our ‘Care for Christmas Lunch’ event, please do book to register your place before 15th December 2017.
