Brook House Celebrates Platinum Jubilee with Street Party
Residents and their families at Brook House Care Home were joined by the local community to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee last week. The Street Party was held at the home and was decorated for the occasion with Union Jack flags and patriotic coloured table cloths in honour of Her Majesty.
Brook House Chefs – James and Sasha – pulled out all the stops to produce the most amazing buffet food for all to enjoy. The local Town Council donated the use of their tables and chairs, so all our residents and guests could sit outside and enjoy the celebrations. It was wonderful to see so many people reminiscing about their youth and their ‘royal’ experiences.
Earlier this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This marked her 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events have been taking place across the country over the four-day bank holiday weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed being part of those celebrations at Horsell Lodge.
Home Manager Sarah Jane commented “it was a truly fabulous event and we were so lucky with the weather. It was wonderful to see all our residents enjoying the very special occasion of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and it was lovely to see so many people coming out to enjoy the sunshine and the event. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen”.
Our residents and their families thoroughly enjoyed themselves “it was a wonderful day; there was a great atmosphere and it was really well organised. It really was a special day,” said one resident’s daughter. “We had good fun and ate lots of delicious food. I enjoyed seeing my daughter who stayed for the whole party”, said our resident R Sproat.
