Bradbury House Rings In The New Year With Birthday Extravaganza

29th February 2012

While people up and down the country are fighting off the January blues, Bradbury House have been celebrating two landmark birthdays. Residents of the Braintree care home enjoyed special celebrations for Phyliss Gilbeys’ 100th and Louisa Hodson’s 90th birthdays.

Phyliss’ centennial birthday bash included being whisked away to her favourite restaurant in a 1930’s style limousine, as well as a party for relatives and residents at the home itself. The highlight of the day was an organised visit from her favourite entertainer and a congratulatory letter from the Queen to mark this momentous occasion. Everyone agreed Phyliss’ love of custard creams and sherry are her secret to a long and happy life.

Louisa Hodson celebrated her 90th birthday with an indulgent pamper session where she was treated to a manicure, massage and some beautiful make-up. Louisa’s birthday celebrations continued with lunch at a hotel, followed by a delightful singing performance from the Braintree ‘Brownies’. Later in the evening Louisa was entertained with a toe-tapping show from Irish dancers.

Bradbury House is run by family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery. The home provides residential support for up to 21 people in the historic town of Braintree.

Nikki Leaney, Home Manager at Bradbury House said:

“At Bradbury House, we love to celebrate our residents’ achievements – especially when they have reached amazing milestones like these. Both Phyliss and Louisa are real members of the family here and it was an honour and a pleasure to plan their special celebrations.

“On behalf of everyone at the home, I want to thank everyone who made their birthdays so fun, and wish both ladies many more special celebrations in the future.”
