Bradbury House fundraiser gets Braintree rocking

The staff and residents of Bradbury House had the village of Braintree rocking this week at their rousing fundraising night.

The event was hosted at the Braintree village hall, with all tickets having been sold for five pounds each to residents’ relatives, friends of the home and members of the local community and all funds going towards the resident’s activity fund.

There were plenty of games to keep everyone entertained including horse racing (pictured) and ‘Roll the Penny.’ Wendy Podlesny, Activities Coordinator at the 17th Century care home then led her band and headline act ‘Beauty and the Beasts’ in performing a wide range of songs to get the crowd dancing, including new 92 year-old Bradbury House resident Ivy Phillips. before an impromptu rendition of Queen’s ‘I want to break free’ by a number of the Bradbury House staff delighted the crowd still further.

Bradbury House Manager, Nikki Leaney was keen to thank everyone involved in the event:

‘Everyone had such a great time at this year’s fundraiser! It is always wonderful when the community comes together to support these events and we were staggered to raise over £600, which will be put towards some fantastic trips and activities for the residents throughout the coming year.

It is important to our residents that they remain an active part of the wider community. I would like to thank all of our staff for their hard work in organising the evening, along with everyone who attended and made it such a fun occasion.’

Located at the heart of Braintree, Bradbury House provides residential support for up to 21 elderly people. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
