Bonfire Night and Fireworks at Tall Trees

Residents at Tall Trees care home in Shipton-under-Wychwood were treated to a Bonfire and Guy Fawkes themed evening’s entertainment on Saturday 5th November.

We were delighted to receive an invitation from our neighbours the local Cricket Club, whose grounds we overlook, to attend their annual Bonfire and Firework display and normally every year our residents would enjoy the view from our windows.

However, this year a few residents and relatives expressed an interest in seeing the fireworks from the Cricket Club grounds and we were only too happy to accommodate their request.

We all got together in Tall Trees Reception at 6pm sharp and after a quick check that everyone was warmly dressed with jumpers, coats, hats and gloves and armed with an extra supply of blankets if we needed them, we all set off to the Cricket Club with great anticipation and lots of excitement. We timed it perfectly and got there before the fireworks started but right in time to enjoy a glass of mulled wine or a nice hot cup of tea.

The fireworks were amazing and even if it was only 0 degrees outside, nobody was complaining about the cold. We knew the extra blankets would come in handy!

Everybody involved had a lovely time and we only heard congratulations and thanks from our residents and their relatives on how it was a perfect night out.

Our residents who were unable to attend the Cricket Club display itself, did not miss out on the wonderful show and enjoyed the firework display from our windows. All in all, it was a great night out and we were very thankful to the Cricket Club for sharing this with us. We can’t wait until next year…
