Blessed tree to act as permanent Jubilee symbol at Walstead Place

Residents and staff at Walstead Place Residential Home in Haywards Heath chose to mark the recent Jubilee celebrations with a more permanent reminder of the Queen’s achievement.

A new tree was chosen as the perfect symbol to represent the Queen’s fantastic achievement serving her country. A group of staff and residents, pictured, planted the tree to celebrate the Jubilee itself and it was then blessed by Peter Diack of Lindfield Church.

Walstead Manager, Jacqueline Ferguson said:

“We discussed with the residents what they would see as a fitting tribute to the Diamond Jubilee and they felt a tree would represent perfectly the longevity and stability the Queen has provided in the sixty years she has been on the throne. The tree will shortly be adorned with a plaque to commemorate the event as well.”

Located just a mile from Lindfield, Walstead Place is a 19th century former country squire’s residence, sensitively converted to provide residential and nursing care for up to 41 elderly ladies and gentlemen. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group.
