Bert brings the Caribbean to Claydon House

Reggae-loving Gilbert Hall celebrated his 79th birthday in style this week as Claydon House introduced a splash of the calypso lifestyle in his honour.

Many of the residents had been involved in the preparations, making and painting the decorations for the occasion, and with everyone getting into the spirit of the day, the event proved to be nearly as colourful and lively as the Caribbean itself.

Bert’s son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren joined the staff and residents for a reggae-themed afternoon party. Everyone at the Sussex home got involved, with Lori the Activities Coordinator preparing some tasty fruit punch and the chef adding a green, yellow and red theme to the cake in keeping with the Jamaican colour scheme. Listening to some of Bert’s favourite reggae music rounded off the day nicely as everyone left with a smile on their face.
Located on a quiet residential crescent at the heart of Lewes, Claydon House provides care and nursing support for up to 47 people.
