Annual British Cream Tea Event at Magna Care Centre

On Saturday 8th July, residents, family and friends of The Magna Care Centre in Wimborne were all invited to attend our annual British Cream Tea event. The event was held in the beautiful grounds of our home where we all gathered between the hours of 2.00 – 4.00pm.

We were very lucky with the weather as the sun was shining. It was great to see families reunited and the children were all enjoying themselves, laughing and playing with their relatives and friends. Whilst everybody was getting comfortable in our shaded areas, families were welcomed by the sound of one of our favourite duo bands ‘The Past Timers’. They played a variety of old classics and entertained the crowd. They were excellent as usual and got people singing along to the tunes.

Once everybody was settled, the event opened with a welcome speech from our wonderful Home Manager Teresa Freeman and we all celebrated our recent award ‘Best Residential Team of the Year.’ It was also a double celebration as we were delighted to celebrate the birthday of one of our residents Margaret who turned an almighty 105 years old!

‘Many Happy Returns Margaret.’

Margaret had her own birthday cakes laid out which she later shared with our residents, guests and team. Thank you Margaret, they were delicious.

Whilst all of this was happening, we had the fantastic ‘Creature Teachers’ join us with a small selection of animals for our residents and children to hold and see. There was a snake, a barn owl, a ferret and a giant millipede! This was a fantastic opportunity for people to get up close to unusual creatures, conquer fears or simply hold and touch the animals and experience something new. The children especially loved the animals as you can see from the photos.

As time was passing, of course the event could not be complete without the traditional afternoon cream tea. Our team were busy preparing and the jammy spoons and kettle were working overtime. With the help of our team, everyone pulling together to ensure that everyone had their delicious scones with cream and jam and a refreshing cup of tea.

Shortly after we had an ice cream man arrive to provide ice creams and slush puppies to everybody.

Towards the end of the event we called out for our raffle which had a selection of great prizes and was a huge success. There were all sorts of prizes to be won, from lovely bath sets to vouchers and free local days out.

Overall everybody was very happy and had a wonderful time getting together.
