Abbeycrest’s Day of Entertainment for Platinum Jubilee
Residents and the team at Abbeycrest Care Home celebrated the Platinum Jubilee by planting a tree as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. This is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. It invites people from across the United Kingdom to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’.
The tree planting was followed by an outdoor tea party. The garden was decorated with bunting and Union flags and a cardboard cut-out of the Queen joined the party. We all had a lovely day, enjoying the entertainment provided by a band called 2Tanium, who played hits from the sixties, seventies and eighties. The tea party was a real triumph and everyone sang along to the music.
Earlier this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This marked her 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
George King, Customer Relations Advisor, said: “It was really important because the Queen is such an integral part of society. I’m really happy with how it went and everyone spent the whole weekend enjoying themselves”.
