April at East Hill House

20th April 2022

Activities galore the residents experienced at East Hill House this April, from food tasting to dog visits and more.

It all begun with the Hot Cross bun tasting session, where residents had a wide variety of buns to try. More than 15 types of buns to be more precise, with butter, jam or plain. It was an exciting activity for them to try and they seemed to have a lot of fun doing it.

Following easter festivities residents, with the help and support from staff spent the afternoon painting and decorating boiled eggs, after they were done an egg race followed suit.

Easter eggs developed in medieval Europe, according to some researchers it was an Anglo-Saxon festival that celebrated the goddess Eastre, whose symbol was a rabbit. Eggs were commonly eaten at the festival and buried in the ground to encourage fertility. The reason why they are coloured dates to 1290. During that time the earliest sign of dyed eggs was recorded. It was in the household of Edward I, who ordered to have 450 eggs coloured for his royal entourage.

During the week the residents and staff enjoyed a visit from a very special four-legged friend: Coco. All at East Hill were excited to welcome Coco and spend time with him as he played and jumped around the home.

Our residents had some fun in the sun and all enjoyed an afternoon tea, making cress heads with eggshells, painting boiled eggs, and enjoying some much-needed vitamin D.

Easter is such a happy time to spend with the residents that everybody at East Hill House is grateful for the time shared and the memories we all get to keep.
