90 Years Young – Birthday Celebrations at Mill House

Mill House resident, Rachel celebrated her 90th birthday on 1st February this week, at our home in Chipping Campden.

As always, we love to make a special occasion for events such as resident birthdays and Rachel asked for a small birthday party, just for a few of her family members and the residents.

The party started at 3:15pm in the Garden Lounge where residents gathered together waiting for Rachel to make her grand entrance. In the end it wasn’t such a small party as Rachel is such a popular resident, that when the news about her party spread around Mill House, everyone wanted to come and wish her Happy Birthday. They all wanted to share their pre-prepared cards and gifts and present them to her on the day. Rachel was overjoyed at all the interest and was delighted to welcome all her guests, including her two sons who came to join her to celebrate this special day.

Also, a few relatives of our other residents who have got to know Rachel very well, came along to wish her Happy Birthday. Simon, her youngest son offered everyone a glass of champagne and said a little speech before Rachel blew the one candle out she had asked to have on her cake. Everyone had a really nice time; people were chatting and laughing and there was a real sense of joy. Audrey, a relation of Rachel, played Happy Birthday on the piano while we all sang along.

Rachel said she couldn’t be happier to have such a lovely family and friends and for them to be with her to celebrate this day. Flowers for Rachel were coming to the door all day and the amount of cards she received was incredible.
