As the Home Manager of Parris Lawn Nursing Home, I lead a professional team in providing the highest standards of residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 62 residents with varying needs. Our commitment ensures they lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive.
I am a qualified nurse and completed my training at the Royal Masonic Hospital in London. Following this my interest was in operating theatres nursing and the more technical side of nursing. I enjoyed the challenges in this field and I have been lucky enough to travel the world in my career and through personal choice, working in many specialties and gaining interesting perspectives One of the areas I spent time in was oncology surgery and then I decided to change direction and started my path in social care.
I began working in care homes as a bank nurse and have never looked back. As a strong and determined person I worked my way to senior nurse and then as Clinical Matron before being offered a Managers positon. I worked in two other homes as a Manager before coming to Parris Lawn which has provided me with the experience of high nursing needs, palliative care and dementia, equipping me well for a large home with residential, nursing and dementia residents.
With an open door policy I ensure I am approachable for all residents, families and the care team. I very much want the best for everyone at Parris Lawn and believe a happy care team means happy residents and happy families.
I live in Seaford and enjoy relaxing with Thai-Chi, reading and being out in the fresh air, living by the seafront means some lovely long walks. A real love of mine is photography which I mix with my travels, I am trying to visit as many Countries as possible totalling 68 countries so far! I have five major ones left on my list; Costa Rica, Madagascar, Antarctica, Isles of Scilly and The Orkneys, where I will enjoy photographing bird life, wildlife, whales and icescapes!
