'Support to Live Life, Your Way' – Our Open Afternoons at Caring Homes

3rd October 2025

We’re always keen to welcome visitors at Caring Homes and this week, our homes hosted a special event to give our local communities a real insight into what life in a care home is like.

Highly Trained Teams, Backed Up by Experts

Support to Live Life, Your Way’, is how we see our role in every resident’s journey at Caring Homes. Our person-centred care is delivered by our highly trained teams, supported by in-house and external clinical experts and backed up by market-leading technology. Our Wellbeing teams run activities programmes that are accessible and adaptable for everyone, and dedicated chefs take pride in creating delicious food that all our residents can enjoy, including those on specialist diets.

Choosing the Best Care Option

Choosing the best care option means understanding what might give each individual - and their families – the right level of support in an environment where they can continue to live their best possible life. That’s why we hosted an Open Afternoon across the group on Wednesday, to give more insight into what the care and lifestyle looks like for residents at Caring Homes.

Behind the Scenes at our Open Afternoons

Our Open Afternoons featured walk-rounds and open conversations with the team. Home Managers were able to answer questions and offer more information, including how the care and whole home experience is tailored to each resident’s needs and wishes from the moment they join us, with families involved every step of the way. Visitors were also invited to join residents in a variety of activities.

The Orchard in St Albans ran a chair-based yoga session for residents and guests from a local day centre; Broadbridge Park in Horsham and Castle View on the Isle of Man marked the occasion with a community high tea and Tarring Manor in Worthing hosted a special gathering for their local Blind Veterans group. Other homes held baking and cake decorating sessions, pottery-making classes, film screenings and a planting and gardening afternoon. Meanwhile in Salisbury, the team at Laverstock Care Centre in Salisbury pulled out all the stops with a spectacular 80’s inspired event for residents, families and members of the local community, which included screenings of classic 80s films, a high tea trolley featuring retro treats and a proper 80’s style disco where everyone’s fabulous outfits were shown off in all their glittering glory!

Offering activities that can be tailored to suit each individual, whatever they prefer and enjoy, is just one of the ways we’re able to make sure that companionship for our residents is never far away. Families often tell us that this peace of mind - knowing their loved one is safe, supported and happy - is the greatest comfort of all, and it is a key part of our commitment to offering ‘Support to Live Life, Your Way’.
