Egg Hunts And Beautiful Bonnets At Tarring Manor’s Easter Celebration

31st March 2026

Residents at Tarring Manor enjoyed a morning of Easter-inspired activity as the Easter Bunny joined the fun at the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bonnet Parade.

Fun in the Sunshine as Children Hunt to Claim Easter Eggs

Each year, Tarring Manor Care Home in Worthing hosts an Easter event for residents, their families and members of the local community in partnership with Friends of Tarring Park. It’s a wonderful opportunity to mark the arrival of spring in the home’s fabulous gardens – all green shoots and new blossom – and throw a community party that celebrates the very best of Easter.

The last Sunday in March was a sunny one and at 11.00am, the grounds of Tarring Manor began to fill with exited visitors – including a large number of children who had one thing in mind: claiming an Easter egg or two! Earlier that morning, the hunt had been set up by volunteers from Friends of Tarring Park who had hidden little Easter pictures and tickets around the garden for the children to find, then redeem for an Easter egg.

Residents Get Creative at Easter-themed Craft Sessions

Preparation had begun well in advance at Tarring Manor as the Wellbeing team set up workshops so residents could create and personalise their own Easter bonnets. There was a competition to be entered on the day of the event, but the activity itself also brought a huge amount of pleasure to residents who were inspired by the range of brightly coloured decorations and had great fun being creative! In the week leading up to the event there were sessions on designing and painting Easter eggs – always popular with residents, especially those with family members visiting over the holidays.

Easter Bonnets the Highlight of the Morning

When the big day arrived, the sun shone and the gardens at Tarring Manor looked vibrant and inviting as residents mingled with families, friends and guests. There was something for everyone, including a Mr Whippy ice cream van – a nostalgic treat for many residents and grown ups – and the Easter Bunny who popped up all over the place keeping younger visitors entertained once they had claimed their prized Easter eggs.

Residents wore their Easter bonnets proudly throughout and they were much admired. When it came to judging the competition, three winners were selected – residents Maureen, Val and Jo, who were delighted! It was a hugely successful event and a reminder to residents and their families that being part of a community and interacting with people of all ages can bring a great deal of joy.

As the team and residents at Tarring Manor looked back on a happy day, they also looked forward to another celebration. The Caring Homes High Tea is due to be given a special Easter makeover and served on Easter Sunday, and with homemade hot cross buns, simnel cake and Easter Bunny shortbread biscuits just some of the goodies to come, it’s surely an opportunity for Easter bonnets to be worn once again with style!
