Manager's Profile

I have been involved in Nursing & Healthcare since 1974 when I started working at the local hospital where I lived in Canada after school and at weekends on a Care of the Elderly Ward as a Nursing Assistant.  I came to England to start my Nursing studies, qualified as an Adult and then a Sick Children’s Nurse and have worked in a variety of settings including Hospitals, GP Surgeries and more recently Care Homes, with my first management role in 1996.

It is important to me that the quality of care comes first, our residents are human beings and coming into a care home is the start of a new chapter in life. It is an opportunity to maintain independence and have new experiences, allowing families to be families again with us providing the care. Not only am I here for residents, I am here to support relatives and my staff too.

I am passionate about developing and supporting a team of staff who work well together creating a home where everyone feels part of a family. It is important that high standards of care are delivered in a kind and caring manner, with laughter in the home offering a lovely atmosphere.

My four Newfoundland Dogs play a big part in my life and I will be seen out and about either walking or swimming with them. I also volunteer for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society outside of work.
