Daily Life at Benson House Care Home
Keeping Things Personal
The wonderful surroundings at Benson House are matched by the standard of care our team brings residents. We love learning as much as we can about the people we care for, so your loved one’s time is tailored to their individual needs, interests and preferences. This can be as small as knowing when they like to wake up, to how they like their tea, and everything in between.
We give as much independence as possible, residents choose how to run the home and if they prefer dinner in front of the TV, or even dusting their own room, we’ll make it happen. Just as putting their own stamp on their bedroom, we’ll help them to personalise it with the things they love.
The staff at Benson House are friendly, supportive and exceptionally kind. My mother has dementia and it was a hard decision to move her into residential care but I have felt supported throughout the process and the care she receives is excellent.
My uncle has blossomed and got stronger since admission and for someone who never wanted to live in a home, he has settled well. This I think is down to the caring staff. All staff, not just the nurses. I would highly recommend Benson House.
Benson House is excellent and I loved my stay there, and I have already booked two more stays. Everyone who works there goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and that they did in abundance. Thank you to each and every one of you for looking after me so well. Benson House should be so proud that they have such a wonderful team.
We consistently apply infection control procedures and services that meet or exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers.

Meet the ManagerFind out more about our Home Manager, Cathy Deocadez
Cathy is our Home Manager at Benson House Care Home, here's a little bit more about the home in her own words:
As the Home Manager, I believe in enhancing the lives of our residents and that they should be able to live the life they want. I enjoy taking on the responsibilities that come with managing a home and I encourage the inclusion of everyone in the home, to create a friendly environment and a great place for us all to live, work and visit.
I have been qualified as a licensed nurse since 1996 in the Philippines and a Registered Nurse in the UK since 2004 with me being a Senior Nurse for over 12 years. I am proud to have been promoted from Deputy Manager at Benson House to the new Home Manager and have the opportunity to support and develop the team at the home to create a culture where continuous learning is encouraged and valued.
I operate an open-door policy and am approachable, not only to my team but to the residents and their relatives too as it is their home. I encourage residents to make their rooms their own, by bringing in personal items to help make them homely for them.
I am passionate about being able to support and develop my team and seeing team members grow in their roles at the home as I work with them to offer the best care and environment possible for our residents.
I have lived in Benson for over two years and our home has a strong connection with the local community, and this is something that I am proud of and want to develop further. My favourite aspect of the local area is the river that the home overlooks and the accessibility to Oxford Centre.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and I like to create new dishes while cooking for my family and friends.

Finding the perfect home
Arrange a viewing to see exactly what your life in the home will be like.
A needs assessment will ensure that you have the required care and support 24/7.
Enjoy a relaxing and fulfilling lifestyle, safe in the knowledge that you'll always be cared for.
You should be able to visit a home at any time – we advise visiting more than once and at different times, so that you can get a clearer understanding of what it is like throughout the day. If you wish to meet the Home Manager during your visit, you might want to consider booking in advance to help ensure they are available when you attend. You can book a viewing using the form above or by calling the home.
Our Head Chef and the team have many years of cooking experience. They craft their nutritionally balanced menus using seasonal produce, and are guided by the feedback provided to them from our residents during their monthly hospitality meetings and individual care plans.
All members of our care teams are given the training and support needed to help them provide the highest standards of care.
Caring Homes has been providing care for over 29 years. Every team member receives our unique ‘Living in my World’ dementia training.
It highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, as well as addressing clinical aspects of care.
The ‘Food in my World’ training provides the hospitality team and chefs with the skills and knowledge to stimulate senses and increase creativity in the cooking and presentation of food. This can provide a much-improved dining experience for residents living with dementia and or dysphagia.
The length of time people spend in a care home varies according to their needs and preferences. Our homes offer permanent care to suit your needs or perhaps a respite stay might be required during a period of convalescence after being in hospital. Day Care is also available at many homes to ensure care can continue when a regular carer is unavailable.
