Parris Lawn Elves Bring Sparkle To The Christmas Light Switch-On
The Parris Lawn team go red and green each year, celebrating Elf Day in costume and bringing an extra dash of festive cheer to residents, family and friends on a happy and sociable day.
Elves are All Around
You’d have been forgiven for thinking you’d strayed into Santa’s Grotto on Wednesday – there was an elf around every corner at Parris Lawn Care Home and plenty of mischief afoot! This annual dress up event gives the team a chance to let their hair down and act like cheeky (but always professional) elves for the day! The residents all join in wearing elf hats, and there’s a light-hearted ambiance throughout the day, which always features singing, dancing, and plenty of laughter.
Fabulous Festive Food and Sparkling Company
The Parris Lawn elf team had been busy building up the sense of anticipation for the main event. At 3pm, another festive tradition got underway – a party for relatives, the local community and local professionals who join residents for a fun and food-filled afternoon. Parris Lawn’s chefs created a wonderful mini buffet, complete with mulled wine and mince pies, which guests enjoyed as they mingled with residents and chatted to the other attendees.
The Caring Homes High Tea has had a festive makeover - think Christmas tree cupcakes, gingerbread cookies, traditional Christmas cake and a chocolate yule log – and it made for a spectacular finale when it arrived on trolleys, decorated with flair by Wellbeing team members Vivien and Simona. After such a sumptuous spread, it’s safe to assume that no one ate dinner when they got home!
The Big Christmas Light Switch On
At 4pm, Home Manager, Costin, gave a short speech to thank everyone for being part of the day, then Customer Relationship Manager, Jesse, began the countdown to the big reveal. With no rehearsal time whatsoever, friends from Foundry Healthcare - Julie Barnett, Michelle Whatford, and Jenny Martin, did the honours beautifully, switching the Christmas lights on and officially launching the festive season at Parris Lawn!
On a chilly afternoon residents had a perfect view of proceedings through windows facing the courtyard, which looks extra special after its re-design earlier this year. Colourful lights festooned the huge olive tree and a sea of twinkling white lights provided a beautiful setting for a group of illuminated deer. The work put in behind the scenes by Site Maintenance Operative, John and Head Housekeeper, Sharon – both fully fledged elves for the day – meant that everything went without a hitch.
A Happy Event for the Parris Lawn Team, Residents and the Local Community
With the lights looking fabulous and everyone enjoying the relaxed and convivial atmosphere, the event was pronounced a huge success. The ladies from Foundry Healthcare thanked their hosts for being so welcoming and praised all the great things they do for their residents. Jesse replied that the Parris Lawn team is grateful for all that Foundry Healthcare does in the local community and was delighted they were able to play a part in the day’s event by switching on the lights.
Costin thanked everyone for once again making it a special love-filled day, adding that the team and residents always appreciate the support from families, friends, the local community and local businesses. Lauren from Mayo Wynne Baxter is a regular visitor to the home and, later that afternoon, summed up the spirit of the day perfectly remarking that Parris Lawn always holds the best parties!
