Caring Homes Celebrates Two New Queen’s Nurses
We’re incredibly proud of our two new Queen’s Nurses - Adina Serban, Home Manager at Homefield Grange Care Home and Rebecca Garwood, Head of Quality and Compliance for Caring Homes.
A Prestigious Title Awarded for Life
Adina and Becky received their Queen’s Nurse badges and certificates at the Queen’s Nursing Institute Awards Ceremony in London on Friday 28th November 2025.
The Queen’s Nurse title symbolises excellence in nursing and can only be attained by an individual nurse who has demonstrated the highest standards of practice and person-centred care. Queen’s Nurse is not an award, but a title given by the Queen’s Nursing Institute following a rigorous application and assessment process. Given for life, it recognises each nurse’s commitment to ongoing learning, leadership and excellence in healthcare.
Commitment to a Career that Makes a Difference
Adina began her nursing journey in Romania, and having graduated with a Nursing Diploma, worked in a range of care settings before moving to the UK in 2004. Adina requalified as a Registered General Nurse and followed a career path in health and social care, steadily progressing into leadership roles. As Home Manager at Homefield Grange Care Home, some of the highlights for Adina so far have included improving standards of care through staff training and development, implementing new approaches to enhance residents’ wellbeing, and building strong relationships with families to ensure they feel confident in the care provided by the team.
Becky trained at the Norfolk and Norwich School of Nursing in Norwich. She began her career at West Norwich hospital, then moved and continued to progress at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. Becky then worked in nurse advising in general practice before joining Caring Homes in January 2025 as Head of Quality and Compliance.
An Outstanding Achievement
Both Adina and Becky were delighted to have received the Queen’s Nurse award and reflected on what it meant to them:
Adina said, “Being awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse is a great honour and something I am very proud of. For me, it is recognition not just of my personal journey in nursing, but of the dedication and hard work of the whole team at Homefield. Nursing has always been more than just a job—it is about compassion, commitment, and making a real difference in people’s lives. This recognition motivates me to keep striving for excellence in care, to inspire and support colleagues, and to continue making Homefield a place where residents feel truly at home”.
Becky added, “I was immensely proud when I qualified as a registered general nurse and that meant everything to me. I completed my BSC Hons Nursing Studies in 1996 which again was an important achievement for me, but becoming a Queen’s Nurse means that I am part of a community that recognises the contribution and my commitment to the patients and residents I have cared for over my career. I couldn’t be prouder to hold the title of Queen’s Nurse as it is a professional acknowledgement of high standards of practice”.
