Treasured Memories at Horsell Lodge

The residents and team at Horsell Lodge Care Home got involved with the local community and took part in the Caring Homes Treasured Memories project. It was a chance to preserve their words of wisdom and memories for future generations, by putting together a time capsule.

Everyone got the opportunity to put special items into the capsule, there were a wide range of items included, from newsletters from the home to show what they have been up to, to drawings from some of the residents and even a face mask made it in. Along with a USB stick containing some video messages from residents and the team. Once everything was in the capsule this was then buried in the gardens of the home for future residents and staff at the home to find.

Home Manager Julie Bignell said, “This time capsule is a good way to reminisce about the past and all the good that has happened. Our residents enjoy the close relationship they have with the local community and writing their letters and finding their photos and items to put into the capsule. It is lovely to know that future residents and staff at the home will get the chance to see our treasured memories.”
