Mellish care home residents celebrate St. Patrick's Day in style!

17th March 2023

Residents at Mellish Care Home had a great time celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a lively party, complete with decorations, Guinness, and fancy dress. The home's regular live entertainers even joined in, adding to the festive atmosphere with an Irish jig.

Maekhala Allan, the home manager, said: "We love to host special events and celebrations at Mellish, and St. Patrick's Day was no exception. It was wonderful to see our residents having such a great time, enjoying the music, dancing, and games."

Activities like this are an important part of life in care homes, offering residents the chance to socialise, have fun, and engage in new experiences. Research has shown that participating in activities and events like those offered at Mellish can have a range of benefits for residents, including reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation, improving mental and physical wellbeing, and even slowing the progression of conditions like dementia.

At Mellish, the Activities & Wellbeing team work hard to provide a range of activities and events that cater to the interests and abilities of all residents. "We believe that everyone should have the chance to enjoy life to the fullest, regardless of their age or ability," Maekhala said. "Our activities program is an important part of that, and we're always looking for new and creative ways to engage our residents and help them stay connected to the world around them."

With a calendar packed full of events and activities, there's always something fun going on at Mellish Care Home. From St. Patrick's Day parties to regular music and dance sessions, residents have plenty of opportunities to get involved and make the most of their time in care.
