Whittington House goes around the World

On Wednesday 7th February, Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham hosted their first “Food From Around the World” themed events by visiting Italy for the day.Each of our dining rooms were adorned with decorations that were made by our residents in our regular Art Club and had their own theme.Friends and family got into the spirit of the occasion and dressed up in Italian themed outfits, not to mention our brave Activity Coordinators who came as the Mario Brothers!The day began with our residents, relatives and friends attending our Film Club where they watched ‘The Italian Job’, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.Our chefs prepared a special Italian themed lunch menu where wine was served to accompany delicious Italian dishes including the classic and a firm favourite; spaghetti and meat balls, finishing off with tiramisu and panna cotta.As you would say in Italian: "il cibo era delizioso!"The afternoon was then spent with our residents and their families and friends putting their Italian knowledge to the test during our Quiz. It was a hard fought contest and became quite competitive as each team vied to be the winner. It was a lovely social gathering during and everyone had lots of fun.This is just the starter for us at Whittington House as we go around the World.
