Why Oak Manor?

Here at Oak Manor care home, we comprise of two distinct parts: a sensitively converted original building and a purpose-built extension that has a range of dedicated facilities and activities. These include a beautiful courtyard garden and specialist sensory activities, where our highly trained staff work with residents to stimulate positive memories and feelings.

We have been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s universally respected dementia care standards. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted.

Our care home has an outstanding team of highly skilled and passionate support staff. As the manager, I have a qualified nursing background and lead the professional care team in providing the highest standards of tailored care.

Oak Manor is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia including: Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsakoff’s syndrome.

We offer a full range of residential support, including trial stays, Short stay and convalescent care.

We are also fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

Oak Manor is a light and spacious environment with a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and relaxing ambience. The dementia wing is ideally equipped to provide outstanding residential support for older people living with different types of the condition including: Alzheimer’s, Vascular Dementia and Korsakoff’s syndrome. The wing also has its own secure garden that has been designed specifically to be accessible and beneficial for residents.

Our laundry is handled in-house, meaning residents do not have the hassle of washing and drying clothing and linen themselves.
Our qualified dementia team are experts in the latest developments in dementia care, identifying each resident's personal needs and creating a dedicated care plan catered to them.
Trained dementia care staff are on hand to support our residents and ensure their time with us is spent safely and positively.
We use a friendly registered mental health nurse, who residents are familiar with and trust.

Our dedicated Internal Quality Assurance Team ensure our accreditations are maintained and these high standards are reflected across the facility.
Once we have reviewed the results of the pre-admission assessment, Individual Care Plans are carefully created and a detailed approach to every resident's care is formulised.
Telephone and face to face advice is available to any resident with bladder or bowel concerns. Patients do not need to be incontinent to receive this information.
Our specialist group of activities co-ordinators make sure there are a range of mental, physical and social activities for our residents to participate in and enjoy.

Window limiters ensure residents are safe and secure at all times, whilst still allowing fresh air into the rooms.
Only non-toxic, thornless flowers and shrubs have been planted in our gardens. This reduces the risk of residents harming themselves.
Solid, easy grip door handles are provided to aid residents' navigation around their bedroom and the rest of the facility.
If necessary, our mirrors are easy to cover up. This can help reduce anxiety for our residents.

My commitment to professional development has equipped me well for my role here, where I work hard to ensure that those in my care lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive.

I believe in maintaining strong relationships with residents and their relatives, and understand the important contribution that these relationships make to the successful running of a care home.

I feel that the Caring Homes philosophy matches up well with my own beliefs on care provision, and I am committed to ensuring that all our residents continue to receive the high levels of care and protection they deserve.
