Located on the edge of Staffordshire's Burton-on-Trent and enjoying beautiful views of the National Forest and Derbyshire countryside, Mount Pleasant is a modern purpose-built care home in Staffordshire providing residential and specialist dementia care for up to 50 elderly people.

Mount Pleasant enjoys an excellent reputation for delivering high quality residential care in an attractive and tranquil environment. Residents’ rooms are light and airy and all benefit from en-suite bathrooms. Bedrooms and communal areas are all decorated and furnished to very high standards.

Mount Pleasant’s dementia care provision has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s standards for dementia care, which are widely acknowledged as providing the best living environment for people living with dementia. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation. Each bedroom features a memory box by its front door, where mementos from a resident’s life help to personalise their room and also remind staff and visitors of the individual’s life story.

The care home is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsacoff’s syndrome. However, staff never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Mount Pleasant is home to our residents. The home has a light, airy and welcoming ambience and residents benefit from a broad and stimulating range of activities.

Mount Pleasant care home offers a full range of residential support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Mount Pleasant operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. The home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

"1) Modern well appointed purpose built home in attractive setting. 2) Dedicated staff (although slightly under staffed). 3) Suitable as a residential home but does not offer nursing care. 4) Professional management. 5) Comparatively high cost for the area, compensated for by its advantages." -

"From the very first visit we found the atmosphere in the home a pleasant and relaxed one. The staff gave the impression they enjoyed their working environment. Nothing seemed too much trouble and the home was one of the cleanest we had considered for our sister. This is a well run home, everyone knowing their responsibilities and always ready to go the extra mile for the residents." -

"My Aunt aged 92 has been a resident at Mount Pleasant for 18 months. Her medical condition makes it difficult for her to join in the many activities run by the home. The staff go that extra mile to ensure she remains stimulated and content. Meals are a delight, I feel assured that her every need is well looked after. My Aunt is mentally alert and her opinion of the home is "It's Wonderful."" -

"This home delivers the kind of care you hope and expect your relatives to receive. The management and staff work well as a team and are very effective in reacting to new challenges. Nothing is too much for them and their attention to the residents needs is excellent. Visitors are always welcomed with a smile and there are several quiet areas where you can sit with your relative. Communication between the care home staff and the relatives is first class." -

"Thomas is well cared for, I as his wife would certainly voice my opinion, simply when I visit my husband I watch look and see after 62 years of married life, I would know if my husband was not happy. After twelve years looking after him myself, I can say with all honesty that he is getting all the care and attention he needs. Bless all the carers and all the staff." -

"The home recently had a major incident which flooded 10 rooms my mothers included). The response and actions of all the staff was excellent, mother was moved, without injury, to another room and we were informed on a regular basis of progress being made to get things back to normal. Nothing was too much for the staff. They are very attentive and try to accommodate the residents needs daily, which at times can be very difficult, but they always do it with a smile." -

"The home has a good atmosphere, residents are contented and happy. After my aunt was discharged from hospital, the medical staff were of the opinion that she would mainly be in a wheelchair. The care home staff have been instrumental in keeping my aunt mobile. She feels safe and well cared for. Lots of entertainment and activities on offer." -

"My 92 year old aunt enjoys being a resident. She is quite frail physically and does not participate in the numerous activities available. But that is through choice and the staff however compensate greatly by providing a family atmosphere. The food is great and very varied with lots of choice. The home has just won 5 ticks in their latest CQC inspection (summer 2012). I endorse this highest rating unconditionally." -

"I looked at all homes in the area and found this to be the best. The level of care is excellent. All staff from the manager to the cleaners show concern and respect for the clients. Dignity is paramount. There is a good activities programme for residents with their needs being met daily. Trips to the church, garden centres, town, etc are regular and can be on request. I cannot praise the home enough." -

"My dad has been a resident for over 4 years, during this time I have found all staff friendly and caring. All the residents are treated with dignity and respect. No matter what time of day you visit you will always be given a warm welcome. I am always kept informed of any problems that may arise. From day one there has been no cause to complain about anything. I would highly recommend this care home." -

"My Mother who is 93 has been in Mount Pleasant for some 7 years now. She has passed from a cheery resident to one who has now mild dementia. The staff at Mount Pleasant have been so attentive and caring following Mother's progress. She now requires a lot of individual attention at meals, day and night times. The staff are wonderful in providing such attention." -

"I can only very highly recommend this care home. At the beginning my Mother needed very little help, but little by little her needs have been more severe and the staff have followed her. All the staff, from the handyman, the cleaners, the carers to the manager are always smiling for her and treat her as the most important resident which is lovely for an old lady. Living abroad and only visiting occasionally, I feel totally reassured." -
