Located in the peaceful village of Hulcott, near Aylesbury, Hulcott Nursing Home is a beautiful 19th century house sympathetically converted and extended to provide the highest standards of residential and specialist nursing care for up to 38 elderly ladies and gentlemen.

Hulcott Nursing Home is steeped in history. Formerly the village rectory, the house was built in 1862 and is reputed to have been designed by George Devey, the architect famous for developing the Wealden vernacular style and responsible for the Hulcott School. Since then, the home has undergone a comprehensive but sensitive modernisation programme, retaining important period features while ensuring that the highest standard of care can be provided. Residents’ rooms and communal areas are decorated and furnished to a level one would expect in such a fine building.

Hulcott care and nursing home in Buckinghamshire offers a full range of residential and nursing care support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Hulcott operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all of our homes, Hulcott’s manager has a qualified nursing background. The home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

  • Beautiful Wealden style house
  • Professional nursing care
  • The highest standards of accommodation
  • Dedicated friendly staff team
  • Excellent reputation for care
  • Tailored care plans

Life in a Caring Home is viewed as a continuum of life – an opportunity to gain new experiences and learn new things – whilst maintaining your existing hobbies and interests.

At every Caring Home, there is a dedicated activities co-ordinator who is on hand to support residents in learning new hobbies and maintaining existing ones.

An activities programme is developed by the activities co-ordinators who work in conjunction with the clinical team in reviewing each individuals occupational interests and tailoring an activities programme that addresses them.

For further information about activities please visit our “living with us” section.

Although I live in Essex myself, my mother lived locally. She had known of people in 'Hulcott' and was happy to come herself. She was instantly happy and settled, and both my sisters and I have been totally satisfied with her care and attention.

My mother spent 3 months at the Hulcott Nursing Home and was extremely well looked after. It was the perfect way to end her life, if you know what I mean. Everybody was very attentive to her needs and made it their job to get to know Alice personally. They also did everything to make the stay as enjoyable and pain free as possible. My family are very grateful for all their efforts.

My mother has been a resident for over 2 years. Mental state has diminished considerably & now bedridden & needs feeding. Staff have shown patience throughout the time Mum has been there & the care she now receives is marvelous. She always looks cosy and comfortable, nighties and bed clothes clean & room tidy & clean too. Staff are always willing to chat & give me information as to how she is... carehomes.co.uk" -

From the little knowledge we had of homes, this felt right. It has the feel good feeling and caring staff. It took Dad a little while to fit in the routine but I feel he is now in good hands. Mother was struggling at home.

Realising it was going to be difficult for mother to readjust from living in her own home, we were impressed by the manner and care that the staff showed in helping her make the transition. Today, after 3 months though mother's dementia has progressed and her physical abilities improved slightly, the same care and attention to detail is being shown. Overall the staff do their best under difficult circumstances to ensure that mum's stay is as happy and comfortable as possible... carehomes.co.uk" -

It is like a guest house. They are well looked after and asked all the time as to what they would like to do, also what meals they would like. Plenty for them to do if they want to. The staff are very very good. I can go in when I like.

The attitude and care displayed by all staff. There is a warm, friendly but professional atmosphere to this home which makes it very much a home from home. Residents can be sure of attention to their individual needs and staff make sure they get to know resident's individual personalities and foibles.

Hulcott Care Home was recommended by a friend who had a relative staying there. My brother and I wanted a home from home for our father who can no longer live independently due to vascular dementia and a heart problem. Hulcott fits the bill as the staff are warm and friendly, there is no nasty smell. My father has his own room with shower, toilet and hand basin, which is cleaned daily... carehomes.co.uk" -

The dining room and lounge are well presented. The gardens are well maintained and nice to sit in. We picked Hulcott out of yellow pages as we needed an emergency respite placement. Marilyn Kimayong, the Care Manager, agreed to take my mother on a Saturday when we had reached the end of our tether after a very rapid decline in my mother's health due to a very nasty attack of shingles on the right side of her head. Hulcott has now become her home. The manager and staff team are very caring. The home has a homely atmosphere and is not too big... carehomes.co.uk" -

As one walks in the door there's always a warm welcome. The entrance is inviting, everywhere is clean (no urine smells here). The sitting rooms are cosy and the dining room beautifully laid out. All bedrooms are homely and most have lovely garden views. My mother is very well cared for with some independence being encouraged. The staff are always willing and friendly both to residents and relatives and they are very alert to everyones needs... carehomes.co.uk" -

My mother goes in for respite care and although she is adamant she doesn't want to go into any home permanently, she is full of praise for the staff, the food and general care she receives. We are very grateful that Hulcott keeps rooms for respite care on a short term basis.

The staff are approachable, caring and friendly. If any problems arise the manager has an open door policy. It is set in a beautiful little hamlet. You are encouraged to participate in care plans. There are relatives meetings where ideas and concerns can be raised and information exchanged. Nowhere is perfect, but this home does not have an awful odour when entering.

I have little means of comparing Hulcott Nursing Home with others, however, my wife is a resident there and she is very happy there. The nursing staff are helpful and the care assistants willing. The surroundings are very pleasant and a good range of activities are arranged. There is a varied menu and the food is well prepared.
