Memories Of Festive Fun And Happiness At Brooklyn House
The new year’s frosty mornings and snowy scenes have made it easy for Brooklyn House residents to keep memories of a very special Christmas fresh in their minds.
Jolly Elves Lend a Helping Hand
The festivities kicked off with a fabulous Christmas party where the home’s chefs created a wonderful feast. The Brooklyn team came together to make it a special event for residents and their families, with celebratory bubbles in glasses and the aroma of turkey roasting in the kitchen bringing the occasion to life. Residents got into the spirit of the day, dressing up in their Christmas outfits and jumpers, and the home welcomed some jolly Christmas elves who came all the way from Lapland to help out!
Festive Events and Feathered Friends
The delicious lunch was rounded off with mince pies and an amazing chocolate log – the perfect way to start a series of festive events organised by the team for residents and families to enjoy. A visit to Brooklyn House Nursing Home by the ever popular Wymondham Ukelele Band was a highlight and residents were also entertained by bell ringers, singer Jack Darcy, and some delightful Norfolk owls! Local schools and the church choir visited to sing Christmas carols, which never failed to bring smiles all round.
Santa’s Favourite Christmas Cake
In the middle of all the activities, the team and residents found time to create an entry for the annual Caring Homes Christmas Cake Competition. The entry was placed third, and highly commended for involving residents at every stage – from the naming of the cake to the mixing, rolling, decorating and tasting, of course. The entry - ‘Santa’s Favourite Christmas Cake’ – gained extra points for being submitted alongside some of the residents’ childhood memories of Christmas, a beautiful touch and one which brought the whole home together.
On Christmas Eve, everyone got cozy in their Christmas pyjamas for the day and it was lovely to see residents getting involved as everything was prepared, ready for Santa to come down the chimney! A wonderful Christmas was enjoyed by all at Brooklyn House, with much love, care, and happiness shared at a very special time of year.
