No strings brass band at Whittington

To commemorate Armistice Day Whittington House nursing home in Cheltenham welcomed Gloucester Brass Band for an afternoon of music.

The 13 piece band kindly played 2 slots on different floors which meant more residents, relatives and staff were able to enjoy the entertainment. A wonderful wide range of music was played from traditional big band to timeless classics, even a few Christmas carols were thrown into the mix! Everyone had smiles on their faces as they were singing clapping and generally having a really good time. An activity like this not only brings back memories which are often shared for days afterwards, it also lifts the mood making us all feel uplifted.

A relative whose mother had just arrived was so impressed and said how fortunate the residents were to have such a wonderful activity brought in to entertain them.

Gloucester Brass was formed in 1992 from a small nucleus of experienced players joining with some enthusiastic learners of various ages. It has grown steadily, now numbering over 30 players, ranging from 13 to 80+ years of age. You are never too old to learn and enjoy this fascinating pastime!
