Love was in the air at Whittington House

On Wednesday 14th February, there was love in the air here at Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham, when our residents and team celebrated Valentine’s Day.

The day began with our Art Club making heart shaped bunting which was used to decorate each of the dining rooms. The tables were laid with red table cloths, flowers and a sprinkling of heart confetti.

At Film Club we invited everyone to the cinema to enjoy the latest edition of the Disney Classic ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

The afternoon began with live music from Andy Yapp, our local singer and entertainer who was back by popular demand.

Andy strummed his guitar and sang a variety of songs including Country & Western, Folk, Irish, and even a bit of Elvis.

All our residents were singing along and it wasn’t long before they were asking for their favourite songs to be played.

After a lot of singing there was a break for a much needed cup of tea, including the chef’s “Love Heart” themed cupcakes, which needless to say were loved!

The finale of the day was the special “Valentine’s Supper”, served with pink champagne, which was enjoyed by our ‘couples’, their families and loved ones.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
