TV and radio presenter Gloria Hunniford, OBE, joined Caring Homes Group’s Founding Director Helena Jeffery to officially open our new, state of the art, award winning care home, Riverside Place, in Ware on Wednesday 15th May.
During a spectacular
event, Helena Jeffery addressed the many guests with a heartfelt speech marking
25 years of Caring Homes followed by Gloria who delighted the gathering by
sharing her thoughts on the importance of care before unveiling a plaque in the
surprised all those gathered, meeting and speaking to residents, their
relatives and the care team as well as many partners and investors instrumental
in the development this years’ winner of the Pinders Healthcare Design Award,
including Architects ADG, and builders, Dalton Homes.

which include a cinema, hairdressers, private dining rooms, a bistro and
Orangery. Communal areas of the home include areas to sit peacefully and reminisce,
an activities room where residents can assist in the preparation of meals, and explore
their creative side, alongside beautiful landscaped gardens and spacious balconies
to enjoy the views, the planting and dine al fresco on a summers evening.

to our residents and guests and was really interested in finding out more about
the high-quality care that the home provides. In particular we shared the ways
in which we maintain links with the community in order to enhance and maintain
residents and community members interests, hobbies and love for life, providing
community activities, awareness events and meeting spaces.
Helena shared, “Gloria
was very impressed with the modern facilities and high quality of the home
including its cinema room, orangery and gardens. It was an absolute pleasure to
have her visit us and we look forward to welcoming her back to celebrate many
more homes, with us again in the future.”
invited guests who joined Gloria, Helena, residents, family and colleagues to
celebrate the opening of the new award-winning home, enjoyed a vintage
afternoon tea alongside an exclusive performance by a local singer in the
Orangery. Gloria spent time meeting residents, taking afternoon tea and dancing
with quite a few, which delighted guests and colleagues alike. The event
culminated in Gloria Hunniford, Dorothy Baverstock and Helena Jeffery cutting a
beautiful celebration cake.
Place recently won ‘Best New Care Home’ (higher development budget) in the
prestigious healthcare design awards, hosted at The Royal Lancaster London
on the outskirts of the affluent Hertfordshire town of Ware, a stone’s throw
away from the River Lea, Riverside Place, opened its doors to residents in
October 2018 and is designed around the needs of its residents. The home
provides the highest level of residential, nursing and dementia care, as well
as respite and convalescent care, for up to 72 residents.
Place is one of the latest additions to the Caring Homes family, which now
comprises of 64 homes nationally and is celebrating 25 years in the care home
industry this year after starting out with just one care home in 1994.
