Fiesta at Whittington House

Whittington House in Celtenham hosted our first ever Fiesta Day. We started the day with a Fiesta style session of Oomph our regular seated class exercises. To keep the residents hydrated the residents and relatives were offers a selection of mocktails. The morning session ended with Music Club playing their instruments and singing.

The in house chefs prepared a themed menu of street food from around the world. Everyone was given a taster of each dish, so that they could sample some new flavours.

In the afternoon we were entertained by a visiting belly dance instructor, Anne who also showcased Bollywood dancing. She wore stunning colourful costumes, which were eye-catching. Anne did some wonderful dancing to exotic music and invited everyone to join in as she taught us some moves.

The health benefits of days like these are to reduce blood pressure, pain from arthritis, help strengthen bones and improve the cardiovascular system. Not to mention there was a lot of fun, socialising and laughter was had by all.

We will definitely be having more days like this!
