‘Experience My World’ – an insight into dementia

Ferfoot care home in Chippenham provides personalised dementia care for elderly people in a safe and friendly home. As part of Caring Homes, Ferfoot provides a unique dementia training programme, accredited by City & Guilds, for all staff.

The entire team at Ferfoot receives this ‘Living in My World’ training, giving them an understanding of the condition and how to make a positive impact on the people in their care.

The team at Ferfoot believe everyone should have an awareness of dementia to understand what life is like for those living with the condition and understand how loved ones can be affected and supported.

Now the home are giving members of the public the opportunity to gain this knowledge, too.

On Thursday 8th September, Ferfoot is holding a free dementia awareness event, ‘Experience My World’, at Hathaway Medical Centre and you are invited to attend.

The session is open to anyone wishing to explore what dementia is, how it is diagnosed and the effects it can have on friends and family.

Michele Saunders, Dementia Training Lead for Caring Homes, and Nicki Stone, Ferfoot’s Home Manager, will be discussing dementia and its effects, as well as holding a practical ‘immersion’ experience. Experience My World will equip attendees with effective communication methods, an in-depth understanding about what it is like to live with dementia and an awareness of the training staff at Ferfoot receive.

Join Michele and Nicki from 3.00pm – 5.30pm on Thursday 8th September at Hathaway Medical Centre, Middlefield Rd, Chippenham, SN14 6GT to found out more about the world of dementia.

If you would like to attend ‘Experience My World,’ please call 0808 223 5400. For more information about Ferfoot please click here.
