Elsie and Simon reunited at Cotman House
This is why we do what we do at Cotman House Care Home in Felixstowe. Elsie lives with dementia and always carries Simon her hedgehog. We have had many adventures with Home Manager Rebecca becoming a vet to perform a life saving operation amongst others.
Unfortunately, she was admitted to hospital recently, we explained the importance of Simon to Elsie and that he must remain with her at all times, but he was lost. Gone. So, we started a search for another, an identical Simon.
Did you know there are over 2,000 cuddly hedgehogs on EBay? Then, by chance we spotted a Simon! After a very long story and actually having to purchase 7 different hedgehogs, Simon is back, with a Simone, a lady friend he had met whilst away on holiday.
Home Manager Rebecca explained, "Elsie’s reaction is exactly why we do the things we do! When we find out as much as we can about our residents, it means we can do things like this that make their lives happier."
