Celebrations and chef training this week at Blenheim Court

The residents and team an Blenheim Court Care Home have had a busy week starting with royal celebrations and then the catering team enjoying a chef development day.

The week got off to a royal start with the residents and team celebrating King Charles III's 74th Birthday which they marked in style with a traditional afternoon tea party and quiz in the bistro at the home.

There were a range of sweet and savoury treats including finger sandwiches, scones and cupcakes all served with tea and coffee. It proved to be a popular event as the residents took their places in the bistro. The newest member of the Hospitality Team at the home commented "I've never made so much tea!".

Following the afternoon tea everyone got involved in a royal quiz where there were many giggles and also promises no cheating was going on!

After the celebrations at the beginning of the week Blenheim Court's Head Chef Nathan and Hospitality Manager Tess attended a Chef development day at Brakes Headquarters in Reading. Where they had the opportunity to discuss new products and how they could use these to enhance the dishes on the menu at the home for the residents.

They covered various dietary requirements of residents including fortification, textured diets and gluten free diets as some examples. They then had the opportunity to go into the innovation kitchen to produce some dishes alongside other Caring Homes Chefs - which looked delicious!

The residents at the home are looking forward to seeing and tasting the new menu ideas and insight that they come back and use on the menu moving forward.
