Brooklyn House care team in line for national award

Brooklyn House Nursing Home in Attleborough, Norfolk, has been shortlisted for a National Care Award. The home is one of just five finalists from across the UK in line for the accolade of Care Team of the Year.

The award has been created for a care team who have developed and maintained an outstanding standard of care within a care home or day care setting. Finalist interviews will be taking place in London on 10th October with the winners announced at a gala dinner on 25th November.

Brooklyn House provides nursing and residential care services for up to 38 elderly residents with various health conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, chronic wounds, diabetes, cancer and end of life. As well as long-term care, the home offers trial stays, short stays and convalescent care.

Several team members have worked at the home for 20+ years and many have completed more than 5 years’ service.

Kathryn Abbs, Home Manager at Brooklyn House, says: “We are very pleased to be shortlisted for the award. It’s a fantastic accolade even to be in the top five in the country. Everyone here works together as a team recognising and capitalising on each other’s strengths. There is a tangible camaraderie which permeates through their work which has a significant positive influence on our residents’ welfare and wellbeing.

“Every member of staff has a passion and commitment to working with the elderly and we are frequently complimented by relatives, residents and visitors on what a friendly, homely atmosphere we have and how welcoming every member of staff is.”
