Blenheim Court Celebrates Nurses Day

13th May 2022

The residents, team and their families at Blenheim Court Care Home all enjoyed celebrating Nurses Day yesterday with a BBQ in the sunshine. Throughout the day cupcakes and gifts were given out to all the team and the nurses received a watch each as a token of appreciation from everyone at the home for all that the nurses do for the residents with the assistance of the whole team.

Eleven members of the team also got involved in a full day course of Emergency First Aid Training with the regional trainer for the home Donna, who also deservedly got a gift and also enjoyed the BBQ in the garden.

To mark the special day the residents put together a poster of quotes of what the nurses mean to them for everyone to read and it is going to be framed and cherished with a special place for it being picked out in the bistro.

So why is National Nurses Day celebrated?

May 12th was chosen as the day to commemorate nurses' contribution because of the splendid work carried out by Florence Nightingale - the founder of modern nursing. Born on May 12, 1820, Florence Nightingale was a British nurse and social reformer and is revered as “The Lady with the Lamp” - which is why celebrating this day every year means so much to everyone at Blenheim Court.
