100th Birthday Celebration at Cotman House Care Home

13th November 2023

Pat Todd was delighted to receive a special card from King Charles & Queen Camilla in celebration of her 100th birthday.

Pat moved into Cotman House care Home in 2011 and was the first resident to move into the new building attached to the old Cotman Lodge. We always love a celebration at Cotman House Care Home and were delighted to take the opportunity to reflect on Pat’s full and interesting life, enriched by her wonderful family.

Pat was born in Ipswich and lived there all her life. Pat lived in Norwich Road and went to Thornley House School until she was 16 years old. When Pat first married, she and her husband Charlie lived with her parents, but they moved to Ashcroft Road in Ipswich, and she lived there all her life until she moved to Cotman House. Pat had a beach hut on Felixstowe seafront where she has many happy memories of family days and herself and Charlie used to go on coach tours around the UK.

With Cotman House Care Home’s location overlooking Felixstowe Bay, Pat can still enjoy her memories, as well as the sea air and outdoors she so loved.

They married on 17th January 1946 as Charlie had been called up into the RAF and was going to be posted to Iraq. They had 2 children Michael and Linda. Pat has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who regularly visit her and love hearing her stories and all about the many experiences of her life.

Kirsty, the Home Manager at Cotman House Care Home, says, “We love a birthday at Cotman House Care Home, but it was particularly special to share Pat’s 100th birthday with her. Pat’s family came and celebrated with lots of gifts and a special cake made by our fantastic kitchen team.”
