I have vast experience in the elderly care sector. As a registered nurse with over 25 years experience, mainly in elderly care, I have worked in nursing homes as a Registered Nurse and as Home Manager. I have also worked as Operations Area Manager for a large healthcare company. I came back to the role of Home Manager as I missed working in a care home.
My primary responsibilities are to provide quality care to all clients, oversee and maintain the smooth running of the business on a day to day basis, maintain standards in accordance with the regulations, and also to ensure that the home is optimally marketed.
I enjoy the daily contact I have with residents, their families and my Care Team. I also enjoy ensuring that the home is able to provide the appropriate care to all clients while maintaining their independence, privacy and the right to choose.
I achieved my Registered Managers Award in 2001 and I’m passionate about person centred care; I believe in considering a resident’s life history when planning their care. As a manager I am passionate about dementia care and have completed a leadership course on this subject.
I’ve achieved many things in my life, but my greatest achievement – and what I’m most proud of – is having three great children and seeing them through school and into good careers. I also previously completed the ‘Race for Life’, and am very proud of this too.
